A New Beginning

The current year is near it’s end and surely a lot has happened – for some of us more happened, for others less.
But the new year is coming and with it, a new beginning. New things will come and changes will occur. This is the way life goes and it’s all about us, how we deal with it. I hope that you, dear reader, are able to get the best out of whatever may come to you in 2008. I thank you for your support, visiting flickr memories, and enjoying these pictures I’ve found for you!

I wish you a Happy New Year!

Last May, I did some work with the Student Publishing Initiative, a fantastic institution that helps students make their own publications — and we’re talking real, page-turner books, not student newspapers. One of the projects was with Horizon Academy in Rikers Island Jail, and I recently found out that they’re using my work to help convice inmates to go to school.

That is just so unbelievably freaking cool. I also recently completed a project that was the centerpiece of a successful proposal to get a school more than $200 million in badly needed funds, but something about this tugs at my heartstrings even more.

Meet the Groomsmen

Meet the Groomsmen originally uploaded by carpe icthus on 13 Nov ‘07, 4.01pm CET PST.

I had so much fun with Allison and Noah on their engagement session that I just knew their wedding would be a blast. And I was right. Held at the Brooklyn Aquarium, the wedding was flawlessly organized to reflect the couple’s sensibilities, from guests dressed as pirates to a state Supreme Court justice officiating. More from this wonderful wedding to come.

Sometimes green is my favorite color

Sometimes green is my favorite color originally uploaded by Angele. on 13 Oct ‘07, 5.25pm CEST PST.

For my sister Melanie who loves butterflies..
It’s not that easy being green
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold
Or something much more colorful like that

It’s not easy being green
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things
And people tend to pass you over ’cause you’re
Not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
Or stars in the sky

But green’s the color of Spring
And green can be cool and friendly-like
And green can be big like an ocean, or important
Like a mountain, or tall like a tree

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why
Wonder, I am green and it’ll do fine, it’s beautiful
And I think it’s what I want to be

(that is the Rio Grande in the background)

Have a look at this On White in large.
