"The time is coming when all men will see that the gift of God to the soul is not a vaunting, overpowering, excluding sanctity, but a sweet, natural goodness, a goodness like thine and mine, and that so invites thine and mine to be and to grow."

bandon by pinhole originally uploaded by manyfires on 10 Jan ‘07, 11.33pm EST PST.
I had the privilege of visiting Bandon Beach for the very first time a few weeks back. It’s a shame that Bandon is so far south, as I know I could spend entire weeks of time, especially at sunset or sunrise, wandering this beach. Zeb Andrews says it best when he states that this beach is infinitely interesting. I probably shot a few dozen pictures at Bandon and they’re all quite different. This one, though, is my favorite, and in addition it’s currently my personal favorite of all the pinhole pictures I’ve taken so far.
There is something about standing on a beach at sunset and watching the light slip over the horizon and out of sight. I always find myself thinking, this is the edge of the Earth; this is the edge of the night. And so around the world turns away from the sun, and so our lives dive into night. It’s a romantic thought, I know… but I should be allowed at least a few of those.
