It’s been about 5 years to this day since a dear friend passed away. I guess that is why I like to go snowboarding… to remember the good times with him on the mountain, and to just remind myself that Life is short.

He was sitting in the window of Starbucks on 125th Street in the heart of Harlem, New York City, and I couldn’t stop myself. I went in and told him he had a great tie, and could I take a picture ?

He replied: "300 bucks".

I laughed and said I was English and couldn’t manage that (as if being English had anything to do with it).

He pretended to be disappointed, and said, "OK, go ahead, but you’re stabbing me in the back". I fired off a dozen shots in case he changed his mind, and he started chanting to the crowd around us " He’s stabbing me in the back, he’s stabbing me in the back".

Then he laughed and I got this shot.

I took this quite a few years ago in the south of Switzerland, the Wallis. It was a ski-race my brother took part in. I somehow like this picture because it looks so human.

I picked up the colours from another one of my photos, Eelco and then adjusted them. This original colours in this photo looked horrible. The earth was brown, believe it or not. Not a single green pixel to be seen.

But the cows had to be fed.
