This was taken in San Francisco the 1st week of the current Iraq war broke out. Demonstrators trashed the San Francisco Shopping Mall, particularly this Ambercrombie & Fitch window.

Images are very subjective. You can view photos in many different ways. Take it for what it is or look past and see something more the more you look into it. What I like about this photo it was taken in the moment when I was following anarchists storm downtown SF. It happened so fast that I was given only a matter of seconds before the cops moved to follow these thugs down market street. Looking into the photo to see the cops standing there with their posture and behind them the man’s chest to all the cracks to the paint splashed on and into the reflected city. I realized how pictures can be seen with many layers. You can look into it for what it is technically or it’s social commentary. The many levels of photography is what I love.
